Species: Dog
Condition: Entropion
Organ System: Nervous/sensory
Entropion is an inward sagging of the eyelids, usually on the lower lid. This potentially leads to irritation and may cause permanent visual impairment. Signs that your dog may be suffering from entropion include persistent crying and squinting. Your dog may also rub continually at their eyes, particularly when exposed to light. There may also be corneal ulcers and irritation which will cause pain for your dog. Your vet can correct this condition through surgery. More than one operation may be required as your vet will be aware of the risk of over-correction leading to ectropion (an outwardly rolling eyelid).
