Shaker dog syndrome is a condition which develops suddenly in young adult (6 months to 3 years of age), small, white dogs such as: Bichon fries, Maltese terrier, West Highland white terrier, Yorkshire terrier, Beagle, Finnish spitz and Samoyed. It is characterized by whole-body tremors which begin as mild shakes and progress to being severe fits over the course of 1 to 3 days. These continue until resolved by treatment. Your vet will prescribe medication which will often cure your dog completely however some dogs relapse after treatment is stopped and will need to be kept on a low dosage of medication for life.
