Seborrhea in dogs

Seborrhea is a disorder caused by hyperactivity in the outer layer of the skin, the sebaceous glands, and part of the hair follicles. This results in flakes of dry skin and skin oil collecting on your dog’s body, causing them to scratch. They may also smell bad. Symptoms can appear at any point from about 3 to 18 months. Your dog will also be vulnerable to secondary infections. There is currently no cure for this condition and the intensive care your dog will need for the rest of its life is a significant commitment. You should discuss with your vet whether you can manage this or whether to have your dog put to sleep.
