Species: Dog
Condition: Psoriasiform-Lichenoid Dermatosis
Organ System: Nervous/sensory
Psoriasiform-lichenoid dermatosis is a highly unusual skin condition unique to English springer spaniels. Symptoms generally occur before the dog is 2 or 3 years old and consist of reddened or yellowish bumps on your dog’s ears and abdomen, similar to warts in humans. These bumps may flare up and subside for no obvious reason. Although this condition is currently untreatable, its effect is purely cosmetic and it has no impact whatsoever on your dog’s health. Your dog will be able to enjoy a perfectly full and active life but as this condition is believed to be hereditary, they should not be used for breeding.
