Species: Dog
Condition: Canine Linear Iga Pustular Dermatosis
Organ System: Integument
It is a skin disorder that is only seen in dachshunds, characterized by the occurrence of sterile pustules that are located just below the skin surface. Alopecia, scaling, hyperpigmentation, and crusting may also be present in the affected area. It is an autoimmune disease that may be idiopathic, triggered by a preceding infection or cancer, or drug-induced. The clinical manifestations are brought about by the deposition of immunoglobulin A (IgA) at the basement membrane, which is the lowest layer of the epidermis.
