Condition: Corneal Leukomas
Organ System: Nervous/sensory
Corneal leukoma is the term to describe corneal opacities that are notable or dense. Corneal opacities that are of lesser degree are described as nebula (minor, diffuse, hazy opacity with indistinct borders) or macula (moderately dense opacity with a circumscribed border). Corneal leukoma results from the accumulation of a white material on or in the cornea of the eye. Commonly affected dogs are the hounds and Basenji breed. Surgical treatment is indicated for corneal leukomas.
