    Optic nerve, important for carrying messages from eye to the brain, fails to develop properly in one or both eyes, resulting in early vision impairment or complete blindness. This condition is seen in young puppies, soon after they open their eyes. Upon veterinary examination, their eyes fail to respond to the light (reduction in pupil size) and their pupils are constantly dilated. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this condition and the affected animals remain blind for the rest of their lives. But, most of the dogs adapt nicely to the condition and with the help of their owners, they have a chance of living happy lives.
