There is a large number of skin diseases affecting dogs. They can vary greatly in their manifestations and causes, some of the most common being allergies, parasitic infestations, infections, hormone imbalances, tumours etc. Most of them are causing a great deal of discomfort to the dog. It is important to recognize the symptoms such as hair loss, itchiness, scales, ulcers, etc. and seek veterinary opinion. In order to precisely diagnose the skin condition, the vet will take skin scrapes and tissue samples foe further cytologic and microscopic examination. Depending on the diagnosis, treatment will be proscribed.
